Royally-Initiated Nam Kam Basin Development Project, Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom Provinces

Initiated in 1992 by His Majesty the King, the Nam Kam Basin Development Project was to address water shortage and flooding in the Nam Kam River vicinity, which covers 60,000 rai in the provinces of Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom. The project featured the construction of three regulators in Nam Kam River and two
regulators in Nam Bang River.

ASDECON was assigned by RID to conduct a feasibility study, EIA and detailed design during 1993 and 1994 and to supervise construction in 2006. The regulators comprise 15-metre-wide four-gate sluices, a 13-metre-high earthfill dam, embankment roads to the project, a pump station, a concrete canal, an earth canal and their facilities.

In 2009, RID engaged the company to conduct an additional EIA, raise the storage level and estimate the cost of environmental impact mitigation and environmental monitoring and compensation for land expropriation.
