Development of the Mass Rapid Transit System in Greater Bangkok
Traffic congestion has adversely affected the economy, the environment as well as the quality of life of the residents of Bangkok and its perimeters. Rail transit was rediscovered as a key solution. The government thus included 10 lines of rail transit network in the Urban Rail Transportation Master Plan and ASDECON was entrusted
with:
• Feasibility study and the EIA for the Bangkok elevated train (2000), the expansion sections of the Bangkok Mass Rapid Transit System; Design of the Red Line (Hua Lamphong-Maha Chai) in 2005 and construction supervision for the Bang Sue- Taling Chan portion (2009) to be opened in 2014; and the study and design for the Light
Green Line (Bearing-Samut Prakan-Bangpu) in 2009.
